I don't think I had a concept of a sober life before I embarked on it. Anyone anywhere who drinks and uses drugs, even if they're not doing it addictively, are doing it for spiritual and emotional reasons. The problem with using external methods to solve inner emotional problems is you cannot control the manner in which they escalate. It's like someone in a public address film telling you why you shouldn't take drugs or it will lead to worse problems.
