The soleus muscle is very, very good at taking glucose from the bloodstream. The fact that we use it for walking means it needs to be really efficient at using energy. So maybe it has something to do with that, that after you've eaten and you need to walk or run or whatever, you need to have a muscle that is going to be able to soak up that glucose immediately.
