The Evidence Supports Artificial Sweeteners Over Sugar

Aaron E. Carroll, a pediatrician and professor of pediatrics, wrote an article about artificial sweeteners still being better than sugar. He says the available evidence points to the fact that there appears to be a correlation between sugar consumption and health problems. Most of the increase in cancer was in people 70 years and older who are not the main consumers of aspartame. Because aspartame was approved in 1981, blaming it for a rise in tumors in the 1970s seems impossible.
