"I look at it is pretty simple. As I move from what I'd call dynamic stretching-type drills where we're just kind of getting some range of motion," he says. "And then for especially middle-distance runners, I like to prime them with some sort of nice reactive work." He recalls one 800 runner who was running at the armory who went out to go on his warm-up jog and didn't do any other drills. But after doing a jump rope workout indoors, he ran 151 for the 800 in under two minutes.
