The Ring Faller and the Hooker
Audeley also describes the ring faller, a particular kind of thief who would drop a worthless ring on the ground. A prigman was a thief who walked around with a stick and used it to steal clothes from a hedge or anything else he could reach in an open window. Another slang term for that type of thief was an angler. And there were lots of thieves that roamed the highways of england. They were essentially highway robbers.
