CHAPTER

The Effects of Upper GI Bleeds on Creatine

The BUN crannin ratio is increasing. That's really amazing. But I feel like we spent the whole episode talking about BUN, right? We really, what we're talking about like is the BUN cranin ratio is increase. And that's because creatinine is generated exclusively from the metabolism of muscle protein. If you ingest blood, there's no muscle protein in there. So when you ingest blood or have an upper GI bleed and you're reabsorbing albumin and hemoglobin, you're going to see a rise in BUN. This is something that Adam Rodman talks about in his tutorial.
