The Last Sears Homes
After years of declining sales, Sears would finally close its modern homes department in 1940. Despite the high quality of the materials, no one wanted to admit that they lived in a home that came from the Sears catalog. A lot of them ended up being renovated beyond recognition. Many were torn down. Others were simply abandoned.
