Ted Olson: Citizens United versus the Federal Election Committee was a weird case. The Supreme Court ruled in 2010 that corporations and labor unions can spend as much as they want to convince people to vote for or against a candidate, he says. Olson: Because the money for this film wasn't being paid directly to a candidate for a campaign, it wasn't illegal under the FEC's laws.
