Glaucon is to set up this beautiful thought experiment o in a way of really steel manning, or steel personing, thrasims argument. The idea is that if we could manage appearances, we would no longer care about the reality. And so right? There'd be the appearance of justice. Well, where as the reality of my actions would be unjust. If we say that justice is only instrumentally right good, we are saying it virtually does not have any real existce. Virtually, it really does not intrinsically exist. and therefore its existence is completely subject to our manipulation ight.
