How to Use Multiple Tools to Support Learning

Sometimes when we present information in multiple different modes, it can actually interfere with learning rather than support it. The brain essentially is trying to track both of those incoming sources of information and compare them for inconsistency. And that's where a bunch of the attention process is going. We should only really be like using diagrams and images when they are meaningful or serve a purpose. Just sticking a bunch of like clip art or icons onto your slides is probably not adding, it's probably subtracting.
