Ant makes it very, very hard for your ponent to really get any of the control blocks. And like you said, you turn your body and elongate it at an angle where the person attacking you kind of has to choose whether they want to attack the top of your body or more like the mid range of your body. It's still the right way to approach the defensive stuff as the person on top, because that's what you want,. but it just makes the fight more competative for both people.
