I think it's especially hard in Jane Street's culture to do a good job of evangelism. Because evangelism requires you to be expansive and excited and make big claims about things. I feel like there's a lot of cultural push towards being careful and precise, not overstating what the holes in your own tools are. If nobody is selling their thing with the hard sell, you end up with a bunch of carefully qualified sales pitches.
