What Is a Modulatory Neuror Transmitter?
Many of the regions that control sleep and the sleep wake cycle are located in the fairly evolutionarily old parts of the brain. Nuclei in these activating systems project a modulatory effect throughout the brain, which kind of keeps it awake, promotes wakefulness and kind of keeps the brain running. Damage to ascending particular activating system typically causes coma and inability to be wakened.
