There's a disconnect between objective reality and the internal experience of it. We may well have some biological basis for striving, but then throw in all the other cultural stuff. The question isn't about striving per se, right? It's our attitude about striving and our relationship to striving. Many of us are addicted to striving because the boost that we feel feels so good. And i'm going to now invite you to the opposite - remember when you really felt like you had succeeded at something or were left out by people who didn't like what you were doing. You can come back to neutral where you're just here as an ordinary human being.
