The Importance of Progress

I don't want anyone to walk away with the message from this book that I think progress is bad. We were much closer though to the default position of profound silence once upon a time, I guess, than we are today. Most people didn't make it past 35 in many countries in the past. It's how do we take some of the lessons of the things that used to benefit us in the past and insert them into our lives today?
