How Do You Construct an Index of Art?
We use a process that's very similar to how a company goes public in the US to securitize a painting. So we buy an individual work of art and file it as a public offering with the SEC. We now have a trading platform where after the offering closes, investors trade shares in the secondary market. And then eventually we sell the painting and distribute proceeds. Now you can effectively read what's like an S1 on a painting going public but sort of reads like a company going public.
