Agathon argues that love is not the oldest among the divinities, but the youngest. He says we have confused love with what he calls necessity. Love does not settle on a body or mind or anything that has no bloom or has lost its bloom. Agathon then proceeds to ive praise to the deity himself and speak of love's characteristics.
