The Limitations of Rogue
The initial game was written in C for Unix running on a PDP 1170. The Macintosh version had to run in 60 K of RAM. We didn't keep track of the level maps at all so that I guess would be one constraint those based on memories if you go down the 26 levels and you get the amule of yend or and you can start going back up levels. And again the coding was mostly Michael so that was more his problem with what we ran out of a memory space than anything else.
