We've lost a significant amount of microbes that we should naturally be harboring, says Tes. We are this frail, vulnerable, bandade covered species that could be killed by a single peanut," he adds. Because the microbium is such a major organ in our ability to function, if we lose large components of it, we're absolutely losing functionality. It's equivalent to me saying, what if the next generation of kids will be born without a spleen and only one kidney? Right? People would be like, holy crap. What are we doing?"
