The History of Lingua Philosophica

George Del Garneau invented lingua philosophica in the 17th century. He was a school teacher who taught young people to read and write Latin, which is what school teachers did at the time. The language came out of dissatisfaction with the state of linguistic communication as Western Europeans got in touch with different languages from around the world.
