The Eight Pitfalls of Cerebrol a Dema
My general philosophy is that there's not ever a rush in really decreasing the tenicity. Even if the patient's old, even if they're not a particularly high risk or cerebral dema, i don't ever see a huge rush to give them a lot of free water. So my preference is usually just to used isotonic fluids. Another pitfall is avoid intimation if at all possible. If you do need to intimate these patients, it's good to try to put it off. Try to in wait a couple hours, fix their dca and prove their bicarbonate, and then intimate them if you really haveto.
