Building an arobic base is to improve the metabolism. We burn off more body fat, but we have virtually unlimited amounts of potential energy in the form of body fat. Even the leanest among us can run hundreds of miles on our own body fat quite easily. The big f is if you're not eating junk food. Because if you're eating junk, you're going to impair your metabolism.
