The Motherly Aspect of God
The first thing to say is that God obviously doesn't have any sex or gender. Every now and then in scripture, you get a clear metaphor underlining this motherly aspect of God. In Matthew 23, Jesus speaks of himself as a hen. Despite the several useful reminders in Scripture that God can be described in motherly terms, it's overwhelmingly clear throughout the Bible that God wants us to speak of him as our heavenly father.
