The French National Army During the Crisis of 1793
Forged in the crisis of 17 93, this new french national army became a tidal wave that slowly pushed all its enemies back. Two thirds of the officer corps emigrated, leaving an officer corps that had to be restocked by men who naturally tied their career prospects to the success of the revolution. The common soldiers were then augmented by passionate volunteers who made up for in zeal what they lacked in formal training. Leveon mass mobilized the entire nation to keep those soldiers fed, clothed and armed.
