How Do We Become the Lion?

The lion in the gazelle metaphor is really helpful. The body responds with a tremendous cardiac output and more blood and oxygen to the brain. It's that adrenaline response that is different hemat dynamically than the threat response, which we kind of think of as dominated by cortisol. So how do we become the lion? Those are simple statements we can say to ourselves as we're approaching a stressful situation.
