Hidden Forces

CHAPTER

The Consequences of Ideas

Sally Kohn: There are two branches of what you said that I would like to touch on. One is this notion of ideas have consequences, and juxtapose that with the observation that actions also have consequences. That's kind of one branch. And the other is this interesting observation more to the point of whatyou said, which is that ideas, philosophy, culture, yes, we can think about and talk about what the ideal world is but there are forces around us. Now those are kind of residual and evolving, humanly manifested outcomes in the form of technology that are shaping our lives, whether we like it or not.
