The Black Sea - The Area Between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean
The area between the black sea and the mediterranean was really the only good place to cross from north to south. This narrow crossing point, which includes the bosphorus strait, is not blocked by a rugged mountain range or other natural barrier. The areas of europe just to the north of this rea known as the balkans are the location of the oldest settlements in europe. And it's the same region that will become very important to our story.
