Alfred Korshipsky was an engineer by training and fought in World War I. His first book was called Not Very Politically Correct Nowadays, Manhood of Humanity. The great book that came out was his book Science and Sanity where he lays out his whole system of general semantics. It's a more comprehensive way of looking at the assumption that we make in our symbol systems - not just language but also math and images.
