In order to lose weight, it doesn't simply mean you have to eat fewer calories. Your body winds up burning fewer calories if insulin levels are high. Insulin tells your body to store energy, so if it's high, you can't burn it. If you don't allow the insulin levels to fall, you're eating too many calories. In the balance equation, you have to balance in 1,500 and out of 2, where's that extra 500? That's why just cutting calories by themselves is sort of a mugged game.
