The Window of Tolerance

We build our self regulation in that primary dance with this caregiver. It doesn't have to be the mother. It could be a nanny, an older sibling, something like some one that is looking after them. That attunement teaches the little human what we would call self regulation. And as you mentioned, ur usmos, that window of tolerance. But if you then examine a person who didn't get that secure attachment, who was left to cry themselves to sleep, which is a big, big nono for all mammals, not just humans.
