The Behavioral Design Podcast

CHAPTER

How to Design a System to Reduce Barriers and Increase Motivation

Behavioural designers need to understand their users and the context in which they are using products. This means understanding what is currently keeping them from doing a particular behaviour, such as taking medication on time for example. It also means knowing how often you want your user to do that behavior so it can be aniterative rather than just one or two times per day. The details really matter when designing these types of products. And i think people whoarereally passionate ly gamification are upset about that,. rightly so, ecause i think there's bigger, bigger things involved there too.
