Resistance training seems to be catching up with cardio in terms of metaboic benefits. We need more head-to-head data between the two, but i like your posi that you should be getting some combination of both. And if you are having trouble with functional activities, with cyrcopenia, then certainly focus more on the resistance training. There is a large body of evidence which shows weight cycling increases mortality risk by about as much as just being fat itself. It might be benign, but lots of times it might be bad.
