We Are All One
LZ Granderson: Literature teaches me, or at least confirms my suspicion, that we are all one. One nation's history is the history of all nations - Victor Hago expressed a similar sentiment in Les Miserables and Ulysses. He says there are many fervently nationalistic characters in Joyce's novel; "the funny thing about fervent nationalism is it's the same everywhere" LZ: As I keep in mind the difficulty of assimilating this idea of everybody being one, I sometimes think that a threat from other planets would be a blessing in disguise.
