The Polish Uprising - A Biography of Lafayette

The plight of poland had long been a cause to rally around for everyone basically to the left of metternich since 18 15, especially in france. This latest polish uprising led to various radical and socialist groups wanting to show solidarity with the poles. Invitations were written and received for a meeting to be held in london in september of 18 64, this one not just on behalf of the poles, but to discuss what an international workingmen's association might look if such a thing was feasible or even desirable. Talks about building up such an alliance continued all through 18 63 and 18 64, until some details were finalized.
