In this episode, I explore the idea that in construction it has always been the trades carrying the burden, whether under the weight of command and control or through misguided applications of the Last Planner System. I explain how simply shifting the work of planning onto trade partners does not create collaboration, it only hides the same imbalance under a new name. I share why true teamwork requires general contractors to lead with takt planning, structured pull planning, and filtered look-aheads that reduce waste instead of adding it. Along the way, I talk about the importance of purpose in our tools and meetings, reminding us that the goal is not to look collaborative but to actually work as one. This episode is a call to elevate the industry by ending the habit of putting it all on the trades and finally stepping up to do our part as leaders.
