VO2 Max Section, Lactate Threshold

As exercise intensity increases, so does carbohydrate metabolism. When somebody gets to moderate or high intensity, is when we see lactate levels go from baseline to a little higher. It's actually not the lactate that's causing the fatigue issues, but it's the metabolic processes that are happening when lactates are high. We're identifying it by a pace and probably more applicable is by heart rate.
