The Cardiovascular Component of VO2
The three-minute workout stresses the cardiovascular metabolic components of the system. It takes 40 seconds, maybe 60 seconds or so for an athlete to get into that VO2 range from a cardiovascular standpoint. The remaining two minutes or 90 seconds is really where they're tapping into that maximum amount of oxygen.
