The Effects of Rest Periods on Myofibril Protein Synthesis
Short rest periods in a volume study, we are using the stimulus per set. If each group took longer rests, then we would see dose responses that were essentially a lot flatter because we were essentially comparing a bigger stimulus perSet. So if you take a longer rest period per set, you allow some of those negative sensation feedbacks to be reduced and so more motor unit recruitment is happening on a per set basis. And then there's basically higher productivity or production of the myokines as well. It happens much faster due to fatiguing mechanisms.
