Lei Jun was kicked out of Free China for a letter to the editor critical of government interference in Taiwan's educational system. In 1960, he started sounding off in Free China about Jiang Kai-shek running for that third term. That put Lei Jun and others who had coalesced around him squarely in Jiang's crosshairs. The unwritten law of the land, going back to Sun Yat-sen's time, was Yi Dong-chur-kwa: One party rules the state.
