Moon hunters was designed to be more than just a spelunky game. The developers looked at how the epic you know heroic life of moon hunters was more important to them than skillful combat execution. A faction within the development team felt that procedural generation didn't fit moon hunters and should never have been attempted, but they pushed it through anyway.
