The Effects of a Ketogenic Diet on Glycogenesis
High carb and the low carb groups had equivalent levels of glycogen in their muscles before exercise I mean absolutely equivalent. no difference in the glycogen repletion or utilization between the two groups. The athlete with the highest amount of glycogen in their muscle over 250 millimole per kilogram was a low carb athlete. No decline in high intensity performance on ketogenic diet now i think that there's nuance here and we need to make sure people are getting enough protein, not doing a low protein ketogenic diet which certainly could impair glycogen storage.
