Leptin and Sleep Deprivation - What's the Difference?
Leptin is a fat derived peptide that would travel the brain to signal how much energy we have on our body. What sleep loss does is it causes leptin levels to go down. Separately, Grelin goes up and that, as I just described, makes you hungry. So there's two different things that are happening simultaneously. The hormone differences are what you'd expect but it still changes eating behavior.
