Shame is kind of a social emotion, really. It reflects the essential truth that moralityis is is social. There's one aspect of shame ilobvy station cultures which i think is interesting and people sometimes find peculiar. The extent to which shame is often taken on collectively. How can it make sense to feel shamed for something that you didn't do? That's a fantastic question.
