The Sunk Cost Bias

There's no victory in getting to your late middle age and being like, I succeeded in meeting the criteria that I laid down for myself at 20. But there is that factor of past you expectations as well. And that really puts the kind of sunk cost bias issue into perspective. Once you no longer feel the stifling pressure to become a particular kind of person, you can confront the personality, the strengths and weaknesses, the talents and enthusiasms you find yourself with here and now. You only get one life.
