Cognitive Dissonance and Productive Discomfort
Cognitive dissonance is a term that's gotten out into like the pop culture and media more over the last few years. It's primarily used to talk about a defense mechanism against the experience of cognitive dissonance. Change requires discomfort but it doesn't mean you have to be uncomfortable in order to be willing to change. The process of change itself is an uncomfortable one because you have to have that internal conflict which is really what therapy is about right.
