The Difference Between Power and Repetition

When we use RPE, the rating of perceived exertion for traditional strength work, we usually use that as a proxy for repetitions and reserve. But if you're programming for power, you might, you know, program something like three at eight, but you're not using reps and reserve as a proxy. That RPE 8 is really principally concerned with effort and intent. And so the way, when I typically program for power in the non-rehab setting, I kind of artificially select the load, whether it's 40%, 50%, something light enough to move quickly.
