A Balanced Theory of Wisdom

Sternberg draws on Polanyi's idea of tacit knowledge. He invokes Sophia and talks about it, sort of connection with contemplation and Phonesis and practical wisdom. But he zeroes in like Schwartz and Sharp on Phonesis. I think that's again a little bit too much of a neglect of the important role of Sophia. The notion of balance is going to play a crucial role in this theory. That's actually the title of the 1998 article, a balanced theory of wisdom.
