Does metabolic stress cause muscle growth?

The Chris and Paul Show

CHAPTER

The Effects of Metabolites on Muscle Growth

The hypertrophy from the light load strength training to failure was always pretty much identical to the hypertrophy that was occurring after moderate load strength training. So in my opinion, there's the way that I view it is that we should see more muscle growth if we're doing say reps that have higher degrees of metabolic stress but we didn't see that. Some people who are working with that idea of metabolic kind of metabolite accumulation driving hypertrophy directly, they think that heavy loads caused greater than mechanical tension than light loads. That would be an issue too because people would say well you get more mechanical tension out of heavier loading and I'm like the loading is just a lot proxy right
