The Role of Rationality in Decision Making
Roland Martin: I'm not sure there is really a rational approach to decision making. Heuristics, he says, are mental shortcuts or cognitive shortcuts. You develop good heuristics and you test them every now and then; that's all a rationality method. The smart part of rationality is knowing the poorly calibrated circumstances under which they're most likely to be successful.
