I'm

usually like one of one direct reports, or be like one of two to four. So i usually have a decent to good relationship with my manager. Good to know, especially now that we know about this likeability factor. No,
Speaker 1
but it's ii like, all of my dears, how
Speaker 3
much did they pay? You say that?
Speaker 4
Ha ha, haa.
Speaker 1
I do though, because i personally tired them so idrew like them, you
Speaker 3
wouldn't have even let them go on to the next round of interviews,
Speaker 1
right? Actlin,
Speaker 3
were there any like, tough decision s or moments that you experienced as a manager, whether that had something to do with like, a direct report or decision making with a direct report? Maybe even
Speaker 1
yes. I hate to keep on going back to what happened this week, but this past week has been really the toughest week i've ever experienced as a manager. Because my first two direct reports have been smooth sailing, like just alsom. I never had no qualms really. We actually had weekly manager, basically, like weekly manager a eatings, you knois likes the poor group.
Speaker 4
Yes, we're
Speaker 1
basically, we just talk about or deires in like a complaining way. I never had anything to share though. I was always like, the one buting in, like, o maybe you should try thisou know. But come this week, my newest, new hire, just like discovering that the skilllovel doesn't meet the rule is major. Now there's a lot of training that i need to think through. And having that conversation with her was really tough. We talked for an hour and 30 minutes about what happened with the task that was assigned to her. Really uncovering her skill level. First, it was like setting the tone that, you know, going into conversation, just wanting to understand where we're at so that i can help her catch up to speed. That was like tough in itself. Is like setting that tone in gaining her trust in a way where she feels like she can be honest with me with her actual skilv because a lot of people want to saf face, you know, your talking your manager here, so there's always that fear in you the back of your mind, like, how is this going to effect my end of the year review, or my career progression here? Yeand i still felt like throughout that conversation, she wasn't being completely honest. And had of having to read between th linds a lot of probing questions of, like, i had to plan for this talk, like, i wrote down talking points questions and everything, because this is really serious. I was tough. So i got a lot of information out of that conversation. And then i had to meet with like, like a training in development lead, and then plan out, basically lessons to help her learn skills that she was lacking. Example, exercises, pulling in other tem members across the company to provide trainings. Yi, intisus. This week has been the toughest because i also needed to type up a email just summarizing our conversation, the situation, next steps to dis document this ol process. So i didn't realize, ak, there was so much that went into it when a d r isn't performing well, because i've only had positive experiences with dars in the past, so i never had to, ike, spend so much time thinking through this person's life. Like i was literally this, like, spent probably ten hours this week just working on her tit is really, that
Speaker 3
does sound really tough. I guess
Speaker 1
i like drails everything in asene rails. I have so much thaud i need to do still. I was wos of work this week end, and i didi, that's
Speaker 3
ok, it's the week end.
Speaker 1
Weakt we cand let it pass. I know i shouldn't be working on the week ends.
SHR # 3022:: NAD, NMN and NR; Is There Something Safer? - Dr. Elizabeth Yurth, MD - NAD, NMN and NR are touted as the fountain if youth by those who would sell it to you. If you've been a fan of SHR for any length of time, you know I'm just about the truth. The truth, however changes as we learn. And learning take time to unfold. Is NAD, NMN and NR have some undeniable benefits because that's what everyone focuses on. Especially those who would harness its money-making ability. The lesser discussed is the emerging evidence of some unwanted effect. You may not walk away from this discussion with greater excitement about these compounds but you will have greater clarity about all the facts that we know at the moment, and not all are good. - CARL RECOMMENDS: superhumanradio.net/carl-recommends - - View and download all shows at https://superhumanradio.net - Visit us on Instagram: @superhumanradio - Support SHR - https://superhumanradio.net/make-a-donation
